The Senator representing Borno South, Ali Ndume has acknowledged the possibility of aligning with the opposition coalition aiming to unseat President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 elections. However, he expressed caution, stating he does not want to leap “from frying pan to fire.”
Speaking during an interview on Arise TV on Tuesday night, Ndume confirmed his participation in several meetings held by the coalition but emphasized his hesitance to fully commit.
“I am aware of the opposition coalition. I have attended several of their meetings,” he said.
When asked if he had been approached to join the alliance, he responded: “Yes, but I told them no. I don’t want to jump from frying pan to fire. I have to be sure. I am a loyal person, and I have my reasons for being loyal.”
His remarks come amid ongoing speculation that the coalition may adopt the All Democratic Alliance (ADA) as its political platform. ADA is a newly proposed party that has applied for registration with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The opposition coalition is reportedly being led by several prominent political figures, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, ex-Kaduna Governor Nasir El-Rufai, former Anambra Governor Peter Obi, and ex-Rivers Governor Rotimi Amaechi, among others.
