2026: I’m not defecting to ADC – Adeleke reinstate commitment to PDP

The Governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke has no plans to defect to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) or collaborate with any of its political figures ahead of the 2026 governorship election, his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, has clarified.

In a statement issued in Osogbo on Friday, Rasheed dismissed recent reports and media speculations suggesting that the governor might be aligning with the ADC. He emphasized that Adeleke remains a committed member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and will seek re-election on the party’s platform.

“Our attention has been drawn to reports speculating that Governor Adeleke may be defecting to the ADC or forming alliances with figures in the party ahead of the 2026 governorship race. These claims are completely unfounded,” Rasheed said.

He further noted that the PDP in Osun had already declared its support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027, which contradicts any notion of an alliance with ADC.

“Governor Adeleke is not in talks with anyone in the ADC. He is firmly rooted in the PDP, will contest under its banner, and is confident of securing victory with a wide margin in the 2026 election,” Rasheed added.

Highlighting Adeleke’s achievements, the spokesman said the governor has continued to enjoy strong support from Osun residents due to his impactful leadership and developmental strides since assuming office.

“The good work continues, and the people of Osun are determined to see it through by re-electing him in 2026,” he stated.

Rasheed also called on PDP members across the state to remain focused and work towards strengthening the party’s structures in preparation for the upcoming poll.
