The National Association of Academic Technologists, Osun State University branch, has congratulated Governor Ademola Adeleke on his victory in the August 15 Osun State governorship election.
The association described Adeleke’s re-election as a reflection of the confidence placed in his administration by the people of the state and an endorsement of what it described as his developmental achievements during his first term.
The Southwest Zonal Coordinator of NAAT, Olawumi Samuel, who is also the chairman of the association at Osun State University, conveyed the union’s congratulatory message in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Osogbo on Tuesday.
Samuel said NAAT appreciated the governor’s attention to education and the welfare of workers in tertiary institutions across the state.
“We congratulate Governor Adeleke on his well-deserved re-election. The people of Osun have spoken loudly through the ballot, affirming their trust in his leadership,” he said.
He said academic technologists at UNIOSUN looked forward to strengthening their partnership with the state government, particularly in improving laboratory facilities, technical training and the general academic environment.
Samuel also urged Adeleke to sustain the peace and inclusive governance which, according to him, characterised his first term.
He called on political leaders, workers, students and other stakeholders to support the governor’s renewed mandate for the overall development of the state.
“As academic technologists, we look forward to continued partnership with the state government towards improving laboratory facilities, technical training and the overall academic environment at UNIOSUN and other institutions,” he said.
The NAAT leader described the union as a critical stakeholder in the advancement of science and technology in the university and pledged its continued support and cooperation with the state government.
He further commended what he described as Adeleke’s investments in tertiary education and support for technical and laboratory services, saying such interventions had contributed to creating a more conducive environment for teaching, research and innovation.
Samuel, however, urged the governor to consolidate on the achievements of his first term and extend his administration’s focus to other areas requiring attention across the state.
He prayed for God to grant Adeleke wisdom, good health and strength to successfully implement his second-term agenda and lead Osun State to greater development.
The Independent National Electoral Commission had declared Adeleke of the Accord Party winner of the election after he polled 511,067 votes to defeat the All Progressives Congress candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, who scored 444,815 votes.
