Meranda call for unity among APC members ahead of LG election

As Lagos State gears up for the local government elections scheduled for July 12, 2025, Deputy Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Mojisola Meranda, has called for unity among members of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

In a statement released by her media office on Tuesday, Meranda made the appeal during a stakeholders’ meeting convened by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu. The meeting, held at the Lagos House in Marina, brought together party leaders as well as APC candidates contesting for chairmanship and councillorship positions across the state.

According to The PUNCH, candidates from various political parties have been visiting the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) for a validation exercise, submitting their credentials and documents for verification ahead of the polls.

Meranda described the APC meeting as a reaffirmation of the party’s dedication to democratic values and inclusive governance.

“It was more than just a ceremonial gathering,” she said. “It was a powerful reaffirmation of our collective resolve to deepen democratic values, promote inclusive leadership, and uphold transparency in governance at all levels.”

She urged all APC members in the state to unite and work towards the party’s victory in the upcoming election, emphasizing the leadership’s commitment to a transparent and credible electoral process.

“Last week, I had the honour of attending the official presentation of the APC’s local government chairmanship and councillorship flag bearers in Lagos. The event, graciously hosted by Governor Sanwo-Olu, reaffirmed the strength and unity of our party,” Meranda noted.

“As we move closer to the elections, our message is unwavering: we support a free, fair, and credible process that reflects the will of the people and advances the Renewed Hope Agenda.”

She concluded by reiterating the APC’s commitment to grassroots democracy, participatory governance, and building a Lagos and Nigeria that works for all.
