2027: No Coalition, ADC Ticket Won’t Go to Peter Obi – Reno Omokri

Former presidential aide Reno Omokri has dismissed speculation about a united opposition front ahead of the 2027 general elections, asserting that there is no genuine coalition and that Peter Obi is unlikely to secure the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential ticket.

Speaking during an interview with Arise News, Omokri argued that the supposed alliance involving Obi, Atiku Abubakar, and Chibuike Amaechi lacks coherence, as each figure is pursuing individual ambitions.

“There is no coalition,” Omokri said. “Peter Obi says he’s running, Atiku says he’s running, and now Amaechi is submitting a proposal to the ADC for a one-term presidency. That’s not a coalition; that’s a clash of egos.”

Omokri went on to describe the group as a “losers’ convention,” pointing out that all the key figures involved were defeated in the 2023 election. He questioned why President Bola Tinubu should be concerned about a group with no unified strategy.

“You’re gathering people who lost in 2023 and calling it a coalition. It’s nothing but negative energy. Tinubu has no reason to be worried,” he said.

Addressing the argument that a joint ticket between Obi and Atiku could have defeated Tinubu—who secured just 37% of the 2023 vote compared to their combined 54%—Omokri remained skeptical. He insisted that internal divisions and personal ambitions would continue to hinder any true alliance.

Regarding the ADC’s 2027 presidential ticket, Omokri claimed Obi lacks the influence needed within the party to clinch the nomination. “It’s very unlikely Peter Obi will get the ADC ticket. From what I know, it’s more likely to go to a Northerner,” he added.
