Kwara set for agricultural Boom – Agric Commissioner

Kwara State is well-positioned to become a major hub for agricultural development, according to the State Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development, Dr. Afees Abolore Alabi.

Speaking during a technical session and townhall meeting under the State Action on Business Enabling Reforms (SABER) initiative in partnership with the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC), Dr. Abolore highlighted the State’s vast agricultural potential.

“Kwara is richly endowed with arable land, a favourable climate, and a strategic location linking the North and South. These give us a unique advantage in agriculture,” he said.

The Commissioner praised Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for prioritizing agriculture through timely input distribution, farmer empowerment, and rural infrastructure development.

“We have a Governor who is not only supportive but strategic in driving agriculture forward. His consistent investment is helping Kwara lead in food production and agribusiness,” Dr. Abolore added.

He expressed confidence that ongoing reforms under SABER will further open up agribusiness opportunities, eliminate barriers, and attract more investment into rural enterprises.

Dr. Abolore also urged residents to engage with the Ministry, register for available programmes, and take advantage of emerging opportunities. “We want every resident to be part of this agricultural journey. Visit us, ask questions, get involved.”

He reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to promoting innovation, enhancing access to farm inputs, and encouraging private investment across the agricultural value chain to boost food security and economic growth.
