Armstrong Paints Holds Emergency Training for Staff in Osogbo

In line with its commitment to staff welfare and workplace safety, Armstrong Paints Limited has organized a comprehensive medical emergency preparedness training for its workforce. The program, which took place at the company’s headquarters in Osogbo, was coordinated by the Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) Department in partnership with the Osun State Red Cross Society.

The exercise is part of Armstrong Paints’ quarterly safety development plan, which has already seen the successful conduct of a fire emergency drill earlier in the year. Declaring the workshop open, the company’s HSE Officer, Mr. Leo Olanrewaju Qadri, stressed the need for employees to be adequately prepared for unexpected situations both within and outside the workplace. He noted that the training would empower staff with essential skills to respond effectively to emergencies, thereby reducing risks and saving lives.

Representing the management team, the company’s Facility Manager, Mr Nasir Idris, commended the HSE Department for its dedication to staff safety and applauded the Osun State Red Cross Society for its technical expertise.

He described the training as “a vital initiative that equips staff not only with knowledge but also with the confidence to act swiftly during emergencies.”

The Red Cross delegation was led by Mr. Michael, and featured highly experienced trainers, including National Disaster Response Trainer, Mr. Ayantunde Adebayo, along with Trainers Otun Gabriel, Omoniyi Tolulope, and Obasanjo Michael.

The interactive sessions featured practical demonstrations such as:

Basic first aid administration for common workplace injuries, Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) techniques, Methods of stabilizing victims before medical professionals arrive and Safe approaches for transporting victims to hospitals or health facilities among others.

The facilitators emphasized that emergencies can occur without warning, making it critical for everyone—not just medical professionals to have at least foundational first aid knowledge.

Speaking on behalf of the staff, the Head of the Inventory Department, Mr. Babatunde, delivered a vote of thanks. He expressed appreciation to the Osun State Red Cross Society for their guidance and extended gratitude to Armstrong Paints’ Managing Director/CEO, Engr. Adisa Uthman, for prioritizing workplace safety and continually investing in staff development.

The training further demonstrates Armstrong Paints’ proactive approach to occupational health and safety, reinforcing its position as a leading advocate of industry best practices in employee welfare and workplace preparedness.
