Kwara commences construction of new Government Offices to boost public service delivery

The Kwara State Government has officially commenced the construction of new office buildings aimed at improving workspace conditions for public and civil servants, thereby enhancing the efficiency of government operations.

At a brief ceremony in Ilorin on Tuesday, the state formally handed over the project site to Mapet Construction Ltd. The new building will be located beside the Deputy Governor’s Office within the Government House premises.

Speaking at the event, Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Dr. Segun Ogunsola, emphasized that the project is not a new Government House, as falsely reported in some quarters. He described such reports as “fake news,” stressing that the focus remains on creating a functional office complex to accommodate growing administrative needs.

“This initiative is part of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s broader agenda to provide a conducive and befitting working environment for government officials,” the Commissioner stated.

Dr. Ogunsola revealed that the one-storey building will include a conference room and multiple office spaces, and is designed to support modern governance practices. He assured that the Ministry will ensure strict monitoring of the construction process to guarantee timely and high-quality delivery within the agreed one-year timeframe.

“These offices will address existing infrastructural deficits and support the efficient coordination of government activities, ultimately improving service delivery to citizens across both rural and urban areas,” he added.

Dignitaries present at the handing-over ceremony included QS Raheem Abdulbaki, General Manager of the Kwara State Public Procurement Agency; Alhaja Risikat Atinuke, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Housing and Urban Development; Alhaji Shina Akorede, Director of Administration and Finance, Government House; and Adepeju Ogunsakin, a representative of the consulting firm, Baron Architecture.

Architect Awolola Emmanuel Tolulope, who represented the contractor, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to delivering a quality project, citing a proven track record of successful project execution within stipulated timelines.

“We are fully prepared to meet expectations and deliver this project within the one-year deadline,” he said.
