NAHCON commences early preparations for 2026 Hajj

The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has begun early preparations for the 2026 pilgrimage, following the successful completion of the 2025 Hajj exercise.

Speaking to journalists in Kano on Thursday after returning from Saudi Arabia, NAHCON Chairman, Alhaji Abdullahi Pakistan, revealed that the commission is moving swiftly in line with new directives from Saudi authorities.

“We’ve received clear instructions from the Saudi government — they will not tolerate delays from any country. All logistical arrangements must be concluded well in advance,” he stated.

Pakistan disclosed that the commission is currently seeking approval to announce the 2026 Hajj fare, urging intending pilgrims to register early to avoid last-minute rush.

Expressing gratitude to Almighty Allah for a smooth 2025 Hajj operation, he acknowledged the support of the Federal Government, particularly President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima.

“By the grace of Allah, our pilgrims returned safely and fulfilled. We thank the President for his unwavering support and the Vice President, who closely monitored our progress. Their leadership enabled us to work together as a united team,” he added.

The NAHCON boss also noted that feedback from pilgrims, as well as lawmakers from the National Assembly Committees on Foreign Affairs and Hajj Affairs, affirmed the success of this year’s pilgrimage.

“You’ve heard the testimonies — from pilgrims, senators, and House of Representatives members. Their commendations speak volumes,” he said.

He extended appreciation to the Nigerian media for their consistent partnership in relaying accurate information to the public.

“We’re grateful for your support in amplifying our message. Your cooperation has been instrumental, and we look forward to continued collaboration,” Pakistan noted.

He stressed that the success of the 2025 Hajj was not just a commission achievement but a result of divine favour and collective efforts.

“This accomplishment is from Allah. We were merely instruments in fulfilling what He destined. It was a team effort built on unity, prayer, and hard work,” he said.

Looking ahead to 2026, Pakistan said the commission is applying key lessons from the recent operation to ensure an even more effective and efficient exercise.

“We’ve gained valuable experience from this year’s pilgrimage. Insha Allah, we are committed to delivering an improved Hajj experience in 2026,” he assured.

He reiterated his call for early registration, noting that Saudi authorities plan to wrap up all Hajj arrangements within the next two to three months.
