Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has officially renamed The Polytechnic, Ibadan after the late former governor, Dr. Victor Omololu Olunloyo.
The announcement was made on Thursday during the state’s official burial ceremony held in honour of the late elder statesman.
Dr. Olunloyo, who briefly served as governor of the old Oyo State between October and December 1983, holds the distinction of being the first Ibadan indigene to occupy the office. He also previously served as the rector of The Polytechnic, Ibadan.
Governor Makinde stated that the institution will henceforth be known as Omololu Olunloyo Polytechnic, Ibadan, as a tribute to the statesman’s contributions to education and public service in the state.
