“We’re Proud of You” — AbdulRazaq Applauds Kwara-born Super Falcons Star Halimatu Ayinde

Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, CON, has praised Super Falcons midfielder and Kwara-born footballer, Halimatu Ayinde, OON, for her outstanding contribution to Nigeria’s triumph at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.

Ayinde, who plays for Swedish club FC Rosengård, played a pivotal role as a central defensive midfielder throughout the tournament. Her efforts were instrumental in the Super Falcons’ historic victory over the host nation in the final held at Rabat Stadium on Saturday, July 26, 2025.

Governor AbdulRazaq met with Ayinde shortly after President Bola Ahmed Tinubu hosted the victorious Super Falcons at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Monday, July 28, 2025.

During their meeting, the governor who also chairs the Nigeria Governors’ Forum commended Ayinde’s dedication and professionalism, describing her as a beacon of hope and inspiration for young athletes across the country.

“We’re proud of you, Halimatu. Your performance has brought honour to Kwara and Nigeria. You exemplify excellence, resilience, and discipline on and off the field,” Governor AbdulRazaq said.

In appreciation, Ayinde thanked the governor for his encouraging words and reaffirmed her commitment to serving as a role model for aspiring talents, pledging to continue representing both Kwara State and Nigeria with pride.
