Students’Union distance self from false claims, emphasizes on constructive dialogue

The Students’ Union Government (SUG) of the Kwara State College of Health Technology, Offa has distanced itself from a widely circulated report titled “Offa Students Slam Kwara Governor Over False Hostel Construction Claims.”

In an official statement signed by the SUG President, Babatunde Olamilekan Matthew, the Union clarified that it had no involvement in the publication and does not endorse its content or intent.

“We were not part of the said report, nor are we aware of its source or purpose. It does not reflect the views or official position of the student body,” the statement read.

While acknowledging the genuine concerns regarding the state of student hostels, the Union reaffirmed its commitment to addressing such matters through constructive and responsible dialogue with the college management and relevant government agencies.

“As a body dedicated to the welfare of our students, we believe in resolving issues through engagement, not politically motivated media campaigns,” the Union stated. “We are in active discussions with the school authorities to ensure that students’ welfare is prioritized.”

The Union also cautioned political figures and opposition groups against exploiting students’ challenges for political advantage, stating that the name of the institution and the welfare of students should never be used for propaganda.

“Any official communication regarding student affairs will come directly from the SUG leadership,” the statement added, urging the public to disregard the misleading publication and remain confident in the Union’s efforts to advocate for students through diplomacy and responsibility.
