Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has mourned the death of former Governor Cornelius Adebayo, who passed away at the age of 84.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, Governor AbdulRazaq described the late Adebayo, who is affectionately known as C.O. Adebayo as a revered patriot, principled statesman, and lifelong progressive who dedicated his life to the service of the nation.
“C.O. Adebayo was a symbol of integrity and moral courage, consistently standing for justice and the collective good,” the Governor stated. “His distinguished service in various leadership capacities earned him the admiration and respect of many across the country.”
Governor AbdulRazaq highlighted Adebayo’s pivotal role in Nigeria’s political history, noting his unwavering commitment to democratic ideals and his impactful contributions during critical moments in the nation’s development.
On behalf of the government and people of Kwara State, the Governor extended sincere condolences to the family, friends, and associates of the late elder statesman.
“I pray that the Almighty grants him peaceful rest and strengthens his family and all of us as we mourn this great loss,” he concluded.
