The Federation of Egbedore Local Government Student Association (FELGSA) has endorsed the member representing Ede North, Ede South, Egbedore and Ejigbo Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Bamidele Salam, for another term in office, citing his contributions to education and youth development across the constituency.
The endorsement was made during a press conference held at Idoosun Town Hall and addressed by the National President of FELGSA, Comrade Kehinde Lawal, who described Salam’s interventions in education and student welfare as “impactful and unprecedented in the history of the constituency.”
According to Lawal, the lawmaker’s BS-E4 Education Support Programmes have benefited thousands of students through bursaries, scholarships, free JAMB forms, summer coaching classes, computer training and other educational support initiatives.
“Our position is not based on sentiment. It is based on a verifiable record of interventions that students, parents and communities across the constituency can point to,” Lawal said.
He noted that over 5,000 higher institution students had received bursary awards, while more than 6,000 secondary school students benefited from free summer lessons and ICT training programmes.
The association also highlighted the N20 million scholarship scheme for indigent students, mentorship programmes for outstanding JAMB candidates, and sponsorship of students to national leadership conferences in Abuja.
FELGSA further praised Salam for supporting the association’s secretariat project with a N5 million grant, distributing educational materials to students, constructing classroom blocks, and organising annual bootcamps and town hall meetings with student leaders.
Speaking earlier at the event, Hon. Opeyemi Ayeni Opeyemi the gathering was organised to recognise and appreciate Salam’s contributions to students and youths in the constituency.
“The impact of Hon. Bamidele Salam cannot be overemphasised. We urge students across Egbedore and Ede Federal Constituency to support him for the continuation of his good works,” he said.
Also speaking, the President of the Federation of Awo Students Union, Comrade Usman Adeyemi, described Salam’s yearly bursary intervention as a landmark achievement.
“Salam’s intervention in education through bursary payments, scholarships, summer lessons and other initiatives has greatly helped students to achieve their academic goals,” Adeyemi stated.
FELGSA, which described itself as the apex student body in Egbedore Local Government, however, called on political stakeholders in the constituency to maintain peaceful conduct and embrace issue-based campaigns as the political process gathers momentum ahead of the general elections.
