Court Remands FAAN Staff Bolakale Salihu, Two Others in Oke-Kura Over Fake, Libelous Publication

The Magistrate Court in Kwara State has ordered the remand of three individuals, including a staff member of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Bolakale Salihu; a journalist with SaharaReporters, Buhari Olanrewaju Ahmed (popularly known as Crown); and another individual, Saidu Musa, over alleged defamation of Hon. Abubakar Saddiq Buhari, the Special Adviser to the Kwara State Governor on Social Investment.

The case stems from a report published by SaharaReporters, in which Olanrewaju Ahmed accused Hon. Saddiq Buhari of sponsoring an attack on protesters in Ilorin. The other defendants, Salihu and Musa, were said to have circulated the report via the ‘KWARA COMMISSION’ WhatsApp group with over 400 members, and on Facebook, respectively.

Although the defendants were granted bail by the court, they were unable to meet the bail conditions and have been remanded at the Oke-Kura Correctional Facility pending fulfillment of the terms.
